American Gardens

A monumental 8,000 m² park originally built as a private paradise in the early 20th century. Recently reopened to the public for free, it provides a peaceful oasis of roses, camellias, and spectacular views over Kvarner Bay.

Highlights:

🌿 The Paprika King’s Legacy: Wander through tiered semi-circular terraces built in 1926 by Hungarian merchant Mihály Pál Kuczor for his wife, Hilda von Hortenau, funded by his successful American spice trade.

🎨 Panoramic Photo Zones: Relax along a monumental stone-pillar gate and paths adorned with camellias, magnolias, and cypress trees, framing a completely uninterrupted vista over the blue sea.

🏛️ Historic Architecture Ruins: Explore the ancient stones of Šišina mirina, historical ruins preserved inside the botanical park boundaries matching modernism layout choices with historic elements.
