Woodlands Estate - Homestead, Gardens, Venue

Woodlands Estate - Homestead, Gardens, Venue is a remarkable garden that boasts both historical significance and stunning landscapes. The Homestead is recognized as a category 1 Historic Place by Heritage New Zealand. Established in 1870, it served as the heart of a sprawling 98,000-acre farming operation, where the first butter was exported under the Anchor brand. The neo-Gothic homestead was constructed in 1875, with a variety of impressive trees planted the following year. Among these are some of the oldest camellias in the country, brought over from England. Additionally, a magnificent tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), a eucalyptus, and several plane trees have grown to impressive sizes, adding a sense of grandeur to the garden that is quite rare.
