Tsimanampetsotse National Park is home to Madagascar"s first RAMSAR site. It boasts an impressive biodiversity, with about 75% of its species being endemic. The park features a mix of high and low xerophilous thickets, along with mixed and coastal forests. It"s a crucial wintering ground for aquatic birds, including flamingos. In the morning, the lake"s color changes due to the presence of calcium sulfate and white clay. Additionally, it serves as a habitat for the Geochelone radiata (Radiated tortoise), which is native to the southern and southwestern regions of Madagascar, as well as five out of the nine known species of Coua.
