Sonoma Botanical Garden. This beautiful 67-acre garden, known as Quarryhill for about 30 years, is situated just north of Glen Ellen and is less than a 10-mile drive from Sonoma. The garden primarily focuses on the conservation of endangered wild plants, particularly rare Asian trees. However, since its name change in 2021, it has also begun to incorporate a wider variety of California native plants. Depending on the season, visitors can admire flowering trees and shrubs such as magnolias, camellias, and rhododendrons. You can wander the gently rolling trails at your own pace using an informative visitor map or opt for a guided tour led by a docent. Additionally, there’s a delightful gift shop that any gardening enthusiast will appreciate. As highlighted by the Sonoma Botanical Garden, Sonoma Valley offers much more than just vineyards.
