In 1927, a greenhouse was established in this location to provide trees, grasses, and exotic plants to various parks throughout the city. However, as the 20th century came to a close, the greenhouse fell out of favor due to a drop in demand. It appeared to be on the verge of demolition until 2000, when it was transformed into a restaurant, giving the nursery a fresh lease on life. Today, diners enjoy their meals surrounded by the greenhouse"s charm, beneath a starry sky, with views of the garden where fresh vegetables and herbs are cultivated. As a result, De Kas has become one of the pioneering farm-to-table restaurants in the world.
In De Kas gardens, both in the greenhouse and outdoors, we cultivate approximately 300 different types of vegetables, herbs, and fruits. We pick them at the peak of ripeness and get them into the kitchen for preparation without delay.
