Italy"s flower decorating festivals draw visitors from all corners of the globe. In May and June, the Infiorata festivals take place throughout the country, particularly in charming medieval towns like Spello in Umbria, Noto in Sicily, and Genzano in Lazio, all in honor of the religious feast of Corpus Domini.
Spello is especially famous for its Infiorate Corpus Domini Festival, where talented artists create breathtaking floral designs after months of meticulous planning. Using only natural plant materials, these vibrant "carpets" stretch across the streets and squares, filling the air with delightful fragrances and providing a stunning visual feast for the many guests who flock to Spello for this event. Each year, around 1,500 meters of floral carpets and paintings are crafted, drawing inspiration from religious themes or famous artworks to celebrate Jesus and the miracle of the Eucharist.
