Gardens of The Royal Castle in Warsaw

Gardens of The Royal Castle in Warsaw. The gardens have always held significant importance at the Warsaw residence. Most notably, they contributed greatly to the cityscape of Warsaw as seen from the Vistula River. In 2013, efforts began to restore the gardens, which had suffered extensive damage, thus completing the Castle"s reconstruction. The garden"s design can be traced back to materials from 1581. When Sigismund III Vasa expanded the castle at the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century, the landscape transformed with the addition of castle towers and a formidable wall with bastions. Unfortunately, this meant that the garden had to be reduced to a smaller area at the top of the escarpment.
