At the heart of Broadoak lies a stunning 2-acre formal wedding garden. Originally a commercial peony field six years ago, this enchanting space is surrounded by a 3-meter-high hedge wall, punctuated by twenty brick pillars topped with charming gargoyles, creating a delightful walled garden atmosphere.
The garden is divided into three distinct areas. The first features traditional English-style formal beds filled with a variety of shrubs and perennials, all bordered by low hedges, topiary, and pathways that lead to elegant central water fountains. Passing through a gatehouse, you’ll enter the second area, which showcases intricate knot gardens, a sunken native plant section, and a giant chessboard with oversized pieces. You’ll also spot two exquisite peacock artworks created by a local artist.
Visitors often refer to the ornate 100-year-old teak door as the Narnia door, as it opens into the third garden room, which leads to the wedding lawn, complete with a quaint open-front chapel. This private space is perfect for summer outdoor weddings.
