Kozani Saffron Fields

Every autumn, the plateau of Kozani in Western Greece transforms into a vibrant purple sea as the world’s most precious spice, the Krokos Kozanis (Greek Saffron), comes into bloom. This unique agricultural landscape is the only place in Greece—and one of the few in the world—where the Crocus sativus is systematically cultivated, producing saffron renowned for its superior color, aroma, and medicinal properties

Highlights:

💜 The Purple Harvest: Witness the breathtaking spectacle of millions of purple crocuses blooming simultaneously across the fields of the 40 “Saffron Villages,” a tradition unchanged for centuries.

🤲 Hand-Picked Tradition: Observe the delicate, labor-intensive process of manual harvesting, where local producers pick the flowers at dawn and carefully remove the three red stigmas by hand to ensure peak quality.
