He had a particular fondness for stone Japanese lanterns, which beautifully line the garden paths. Gotoh's passion for collecting traditional art was sparked by his fascination with copies of Buddhist sutras from the Nara Period. His interests also encompassed Zen calligraphy and various aspects of Japanese traditional culture, which naturally led him to the art of the tea ceremony. As a result, the garden features tea ceremony huts that enhance the charm of the hilly ravine landscape.
