Xiuqiu Park

Hydrangea Park (also known locally as Xiuqiu Park) is an enchanting, hidden-gem civic sanctuary tucked away in the Gulou District of Nanjing, China. Named after Mount Hydrangea (Xiuqiu Shan) due to the unique local topography resembling a traditional embroidered silk ball, this serene waterside landscape offers a peaceful retreat from the surrounding city rush. Designed specifically for nature and flower travelers, the park features a beautiful mesh of traditional Chinese garden architecture, winding stone bridges, scenic reflection lakes, and vibrant seasonal micro-gardens that erupt into soft clouds of pastel petals every spring.

Highlights:

🌸 The Painterly Hydrangea Hills: Wander alongside gentle, undulating slopes and lake-facing banks that completely transform into an artistic sea of blues, purples, and pinks when the seasonal hydrangea bushes mature.

👑 The Legendary Empress Ma Footprint: Visit the summit of Mount Hydrangea to view a historic, massive 84 cm carved footprint pit and accompanying stone statue dedicated to the famous Ming Dynasty Empress Ma.

🛶 Tranquil Lakes & Bridge Loops: Hire a local pleasure boat to cruise along the quiet waters of East Lake, or photograph traditional architecture framing the West Garden’s three interconnected islands.
