The Barony Rosendal Manor House (Baroniet Rosendal) is a historical estate from 1665 nestled at the mouth of the Hardangerfjord in Kvinnherad, Norway. Famous for being Norway’s only barony and Scandinavia’s smallest castle, this pristine estate was gifted as a wedding present to Ludvig Rosenkrantz and Karen Mowat. It functions today as a preserved museum managed by the University of Oslo, showcasing completely intact historic rooms alongside a magnificent 300-year-old Renaissance rose garden.
Highlights:
🌹 The 300-Year-Old Rosendal Gardens: Wander through changing eras of horticulture, moving from a structured 17th-century Renaissance garden framed by ancient boxwood hedges to a sweeping, English-style romantic landscape park designed in 1850.
🎶 An Elite Cultural Arena: Enjoy intimate live entertainment throughout the season, ranging from classical performances in the historic Great Hall (Riddersalen) to open-air theater productions held inside the stone Castle Courtyard (Borggarden).
