Bannerman Park was once covered in gorse and broom until the 1960s. Grass was planted, and the springs were drained, leading to the introduction of numerous rhododendrons, conifers, and silver birches, along with the establishment of a deer park.
Two decades later, the creek beds were enhanced with bog plants, and since then, a variety of herbaceous perennials have been widely planted. Nowadays, streams wind through the valley, flanked by paved pathways.
