Wharepuke Subtropical Garden

Wharepuke translates to "house on the hill" in Te Reo Maori. The owner, Robin Booth, brings a rich background in nurseryman and landscaping to the project. He started cultivating the garden in 1993, which is nestled in a valley leading down to the historic Stone Store in Kerikeri.

Wharepuke is a true plantsman"s paradise, showcasing a diverse assortment of trees and plants that thrive in the subtropical climate. You"ll find vibrant groupings of bromeliads, a variety of orchids flourishing both on and beneath the trees, and an impressive range of mature trees from across the globe. The collection of fruit-bearing trees is particularly noteworthy.
