Victoria Esplanade Gardens boast a diverse array of both annual and perennial flower beds, designed to provide a stunning display throughout the year. Notably, there is a fernery, and alongside the Manawatu River, you"ll find five hectares of native bush, one of the last remaining natural areas in the region. The Dugald McKenzie rose garden is home to over 5,000 plants, with nearby rose trial beds for enthusiasts to explore. Although the cherry trees, once a major highlight, have been removed due to disease and age, an avenue of Prunus ‘Awanui’ was planted to commemorate the centenary, helping to revive this beloved feature.
