Tūpare is an exquisite landscaped garden featuring a remarkable house designed by Chapman-Taylor in the Arts & Crafts style. The garden boasts beautiful hardscaping, while majestic trees provide shelter and create an enchanting ambiance. Winding paths carved into the hillside lead visitors down to the Waiwhakaiho River, revealing delightful views and cozy garden spaces. The river flat area maintains a serene pastoral charm, enhanced by carefully chosen specimen trees that dance with the breeze and the flowing water. Founded in 1932 by Russell Matthews and his family, it is now cherished by the community through the Taranaki Regional Council.
