The Coronado Flower Show is a true representation of American culture. In its formative years, it relied entirely on contributions from the community. Local schools provided desks and typewriters, the Hotel del Coronado offered trellises and tables, and even the Boy Scout troops camped out in the park to ensure the safety of the event and its attendees. The show took a break during World War II, pausing for three years (1943-1946) to focus on national defense, but it made a vibrant comeback in the spring of 1946.
Held at Spreckels Park, this two-day celebration features stunning landscape displays, various floral competitions, informative lectures and demonstrations, live music, a food and drink garden showcasing local craft beers, and plenty of shopping opportunities. Additionally, there’s a Home Front competition that honors outstanding gardens at homes and businesses throughout the city.
The Coronado Floral Association organizes the Flower Show with valuable support from the City of Coronado.
