Myohoji

Myohonji is among the temples belonging to the Nichiren sect of Japanese Buddhism, located in the southeastern hills of Kamakura. Established by Hiki Yoshimoto in 1260, the temple showcases a statue of Nichiren positioned to the left of the main hall.

You can access the temple through the Gionyama hiking trail, which connects it to several other nearby temples and a shrine. This trail winds through the lush wooded hills of Kamakura, so it"s best to explore it wearing sturdy walking shoes and only when the weather is dry, as there are some steep and rugged sections.
