Souunji

Souunji garden. A hidden gem tucked away in the mountains of Hakone for centuries, Soun-ji temple truly shines when adorned with vibrant red maples in the autumn.

Surrounded by a serene grove of cedars and bamboo, this family temple offers more than meets the eye. Established in 1521, it faced destruction during a regime change but was lovingly rebuilt in 1672. Today, Soun-ji stands as the spiritual core of Hakone-Yumoto.
