Kyoto Botanical Garden is a treasure trove of lush greenery and stunning gardens, offering numerous wonderful spots to witness the changing seasons in its plant and animal life. One standout location is Arashiyama, which captivates visitors all year long, particularly in spring and autumn when the cherry blossoms and vibrant fall foliage steal the show. However, a gem that often goes unnoticed by tourists is the Kyoto Botanical Gardens located in Kitayama.
Established in 1924, the Kyoto Botanical Gardens spans approximately 240,000 square meters and boasts an impressive collection of 12,000 plant species, making it Japan"s oldest and most extensive public botanical garden. Although it fell into neglect in 1945, it was revitalized and reopened to the public in 1961.
