Hamamatsu Flower Park spans approximately 30,000 square meters and features a diverse collection of over 3,000 plant species. I had the pleasure of visiting the park in early April while enjoying the Spring Festival.
Hamamatsu Flower Park, a beautiful botanical garden, was established in 1970 and spans approximately 30 hectares of land to the northwest of central Hamamatsu, right next to Lake Hamana. The park features gently rolling hills that showcase a stunning variety of seasonal flowers, including both local species and rare, exotic plants from around the world. Visitors can enjoy a large play area for children, a gift shop, cafés, and restaurants, as well as spacious grassy areas perfect for picnicking. The entry fees collected help maintain the garden and support ongoing horticultural projects. Notable attractions include the tulip garden, cherry blossom area, and wisteria trellis, all reflecting the dedication to creating beautiful floral displays. Discount tickets are available for those wishing to visit both Hamamatsu Flower Park and the nearby Hamamatsu Zoological Garden. The park is designed for accessibility, with benches and rest areas conveniently located throughout. An electric cable car provides easy transport up and down one of the steeper hills, accommodating wheelchairs and strollers at no extra cost. Additionally, a charming “flower train” tour bus, designed like a locomotive, takes visitors on a 15-minute journey around the park, stopping at five key points, making it a favorite for tour groups and those with limited time.
