Step into the enchanting garden of Charleston Farmhouse in East Sussex—a living canvas where Bloomsbury artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant cultivated a painter’s paradise among gravel paths, sculptural surprises, and a blooming orchard. From the tiled pond to the mosaic walkways, every corner blooms with creativity, history, and soulful beauty.
Highlights:
Global Creativity in Bloom
Each year, around 30 imaginative installations reinterpret the festival’s theme—shown in 2025 as “Once upon a time, in the garden”—with inventive materials and plantings. Since 1992, over 900 gardens have debuted here, making Chaumont a renowned testing ground for next-generation garden design.
A Quiet Evening Full of Light
In July and August, the gardens come alive at night during the Nocturnes au Jardin, where LED lighting, gentle soundscapes, and aromatic plantings craft magical, sensory-driven nocturnal strolls.
Permanent Gardens & Plant-rich Meadows
Beyond the temporary installations, the Prés du Goualoup, spanning 10 hectares, features perennial gardens influenced by cultures such as Japanese and British. Visitors can explore themed plant collections, including irises, peonies, dahlias, and rose arches—all enriched by contemporary artworks from the Domaine’s Art Season.
