Hurunui Garden Festival offers a delightful variety of gardens, from charming and playful to elegant and sophisticated. You can explore breathtaking vistas, vibrant herbaceous borders, naturalistic plantings, drought-resistant gardens, grand pathways, inviting seating nooks, and refreshing shade gardens—there’s something here to spark inspiration for every gardening enthusiast. While our gardeners may be hobbyists, their enthusiasm and expertise shine through at this festival, and you’ll have the chance to connect with them at their gardens.
The garden tour stretches from Amberley in the south, through the stunning limestone formations of Waipara Gorge, and into the gently rolling hills and fertile farmlands of Hawarden, Waikari, Culverden, Rotherham, and on to Cheviot and/or Hanmer Springs. Discover 18 stunning gardens and two charming historic homesteads nestled in the remarkable Hurunui region.
